What you get without paying extra

  • Two barbecue pavilions serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, salad, fruit and cookies
  • Four bars spread along the beach
  • Beach chairs, first come first served
  • Protected swimming areas, volleyball and basketball
  • Pelican's Perch, a supervised children's play area with a replica galleon and sand playground
  • A local market with Bahamian crafts, and the Tropical Treasures duty-free shop

What costs extra

Clamshell shades are described by Princess as a "nominal fee," with no figure published. Beach bungalows are listed at $199 and Sanctuary bungalows at $249, both including priority tender tickets, air conditioning and a private shower. Snorkel gear, snorkel tours and glass-bottom boat tours are also extra.

Treat those two prices with care. They come from a Princess fact sheet that carries no date, and the live booking pages do not show prices to the public. Check the real price in your Cruise Personalizer before you count on it.

The tender rules, and why they matter

This is the part to read twice if anyone in your party uses a wheelchair, a walker or a scooter. Princess publishes all of the following:

  • "Guests using mobility devices will not be transferred into or out of the shuttle if lifting in excess of 50 pounds is required."
  • "Many ports do not provide wheelchair access, so even if you can board the shuttle, you may not be able to disembark ashore."
  • "The decision to allow any passenger to board a tender or disembark the vessel will be made by the Captain... and is final."
  • "If guests are unable to tender or disembark, there will be no refund or credit for missed ports."

Not published anywhere official: restrooms and their locations, medical or first-aid facilities, the distance from the tender pier to the main beach, any tram or shuttle on the island, and any accessibility information specific to Princess Cays. Princess's own pages also disagree about the length of the beach, one saying more than half a mile and another more than a mile and a half, so we are not printing a figure.
